Halloween is a time for creativity, excitement, and maybe a little mischief. This year, I was thrilled to get into the spooky spirit by designing a Halloween card for Thirst, bringing a touch of festive fun to the office! The idea came from Mish, who suggested an internal Halloween celebration as a way to lift spirits and bring everyone together. She gave me full creative freedom to make the card as eerie, fun, or mysterious as I wanted—and I couldn’t wait to dive in.
Crafting the Halloween Design
With the theme wide open, I decided to lean into a classic Halloween vibe. I created a haunting scarecrow with glowing eyes and a mischievous grin, standing against a dark, fiery background that instantly gives off spooky vibes. To keep the design playful, I chose a bold, Halloween-themed font for “Happy Halloween,” giving the text a bit of a wavy, haunted look to match the season’s charm. And, of course, I included the TH_RST logo in the corner to keep the design tied to our brand.
From Screen to Print
Once the design was finalized, Mish arranged for the cards to be printed on A5 paper. Seeing the final product in hand was a rewarding moment—the colors came out vibrant, and the scarecrow’s eerie glow looked even better on print than on screen! It was exciting to see how the design transformed from a digital concept into something tangible that could be shared.
Adding a Sweet Surprise
Mish didn’t stop with just the cards; she took things up a notch by pairing each card with a mini Jack O’Lantern-shaped basket filled with Halloween treats. Handing these out to the team brought an extra touch of fun to the celebration. The sight of everyone with their Halloween cards and candy baskets made the day memorable and added a festive atmosphere to our workspace.
Reflections on the Project
This project was a fantastic reminder of the impact a small creative gesture can have in bringing people together. As a designer, it was rewarding to create something that not only showcased my style but also added a bit of seasonal joy to my team. Projects like this remind me of the power of design in creating memorable experiences, and I’m grateful for the chance to help make Halloween special at Thirst.
